Creative
writing and yoga workshop with Sabrina Broadbent 17th - 21st June 2010
A balance of yoga, meditation and creative writing to stretch your mind, relax your body and hone your sentences.
Sabrina Broadbent has tutored several
writing workshops at Arvon and elsewhere. Her first novel, "Descent"
won the WHSMITH Raw Talent Award in 2002. Her most recent novel, "You
Don't Have to be Good" was published in 2009. Sabrina’s
journalism has appeared in The Times, The Guardian and The
Mail. Formerly Head of English in a London comprehensive, she is now
Schools Support Director at FILMCLUB.
The creative writing workshops will
look at how writers write and offer practical ways of generating
ideas and shaping material. Drawing on the work of a range of
novelists, the sessions will include a focus on word choice, honing the
sentence, avoiding cliché, mapping structure, and
characterisation. The aim is to inspire productive work, positive
writing practices and kick-start the imagination so that
participants go away eager and able to
write.
