Permaculture course with Graham Strouts at the Clare Island retreat centre,
29th June - 3rd July 2007

Permaculture is a system of sustainable design based on patterns in the  natural world. In this introductory workshop, participants will gain an  insight into what it really means to live sustainably, and make a start in learning some of the practical skills necessary to achieve this.
Topics covered will include:

- How Does Nature Do It-Permaculture ethics and Design Principles;
- Peak Oil and Energy Descent- Preparing for a Low-Energy future.
- Earth Care and Nature Stewardship- Polycultures, Perennials and Patterns;
- The Home Garden;
- Trees and Woodlands;
- Composting ;
- Building the Powerdown Community- Energy Options for the Real World

The course will be a mixture of practical projects, talks and  slideshows, and a design exercise.
Please bring outdoor clothes for gardening work etc.
