Yoga, and mindfull eating on Clare Island
3rd - 7th July 2010
1st - 5th september 2010

The mindfulness that is nurtured through the meditation and yoga practice can be extended off the yoga mat and applied to our daily lives. At the retreat centre here on the island we are privileged to be able to grow most of our own food, something which has long been lost or at least neglected in our increasingly urbanised culture. This summer course offers participants an opportunity to re-connect with nature within the unique environment of an island, engaging in activities which are not only fun but require a quiet awareness, let us say, mindfulness.  We will be celebrating the abundance that the season brings in terms of food, both cultivated and wild. All participants will have the opportunity to have hands-on experience in the making of dinner, all from local ingredients, as well as the baking of bread. We will be sharing not only our recipes but also our passion for fresh, locally grown, organic and delicious vegetarian food. We are equally passionate about bread and hope to infect those who come on the course with the same enthusiasm to turn one's back on the industrial variety.

During this 3 day retreat, we will be practicing yoga and meditation in the morning while devoting the afternoons to food production. Afternoon activities will include:
